The case of the vanishing furniture

The other night I had this dream that I came home, opened my door, and my living room had been completely emptied. As in, everything. Gone. Entertainment center, TV, DVD shelf, pictures off the wall, all my furniture, my filing cabinets with my most important documents. All completely gone as if no one had lived there. You've got to be kidding me on this. One of my neighbors has put a Halloween-themed doormat outside his door. It has ghosts and bats and jack-o-lanterns and orange and black. It screams "Halloween" — nearly as much as it screams "stupid." (Read more...)

HD DVD? Blu-ray? None of the above, for now.

Remember in the 1980s when VHS and Betamax duked it out? Apparently the manufacturers of the future of home video have not learned from past mistakes (or, more specifically, they don't much care that consumers will by and large stand on the sidelines while they duke it out), and we're doomed to repeat the Format War for the future of DVD. What the hell is 'Rescue Me' about?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but since I've been deficient in my IDWID writing, I guess I'd better write stuff when it comes to mind (which, after all, is the point of a blog).

Anyway, I just watched the second-to-last episode of "Rescue Me's" aimless fourth season, and I'm convinced that this show is now a pointless stream-of-consciousness about random stuff that goes on in the lives of random — usually crazy — people. This show has the focus and attention span of a hazy, non-functional alcoholic, which is ironic considering that Tommy gave up drinking. (Read more...)
