Last week, Conan, Leno, Letterman, et al, all went back on the air, and this week, "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" came back. All these shows, with the exception of the Letterman productions, whose production company struck an independent deal with the WGA, are back to work without their writers.

I watched a "news" video online the other day that framed an absolutely shameful picture. I'll get to the shameful part in a minute, but the video was taken at the scene of the climax of the latest Britney Spears meltdown. (Paging Dr. Phil. Ugh.) The tree in the lobby of my workplace is no longer rotating at 1 rpm. It has been unplugged and now just sits there like a normal Christmas tree, probably because they are about to take it down.

As an Illini fan, watching the Rose Bowl was brutal.
